Feelings Rock is a music and movement-based class that is designed to help preschoolers and their families navigate social emotional development. Based on the latest evidence-based research, experience with previous music programs, and empathy for the emotional needs of families, our experienced and passionate instructors offer a new, inclusive approach to learning featuring diverse styles of music and interactive activities designed to develop a healthy mind and body, while having fun.     Katie has been teaching movement and music classes for over 20 years. She founded Feelings Rock in 2020 in hopes to have kids fall in love with music while learning to understand and control their many emotions.

    Kellie has been teaching music classes for 3 years. She truly gets joy from teaching movement and music classes and getting to know each child's individual personality and needs when they come to class.

    Katy is toddler mom that saw a huge benefit to taking her daughter to music and movement classes as a baby and instantly knew she wanted to be on the teaching side. Katy has a background in working with young children and American Sign Language and is excited to build an amazing music, movement & art community!

Our Songwriters

  • Gerry Youngman is an international recording artist, composer, and performer based in Buffalo, NY. He started playing to professional audiences at 12 years of age and attended the renowned Berkeley School of Music on a full scholarship. He has four recorded CDs with original music, including over 25 songs he has written.

    Gerry is best known as the arranger, composer, and organist in the internationally acclaimed soul-jazz trio Paradigm Shift. He is signed to Nagel Heyer, one of Europe's largest jazz record labels. His album, Shifting Times, featuring many of his original songs, was nominated for a Grammy in 2005.

    Gerry has enjoyed playing with acclaimed artists such as the 4 Tops, Drifters, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Walter Scott, Wycliffe Gordon, Joe Locke, Houston Person, David "Fathead" Newman, Marcus Printup, and Greg Millar.

    Gerry is proud to inspire the love of music in children worldwide through his work with Feelings Rock.

  • Sara Rogers received her Bachelor of Music degree in 2015 from Nazareth College of Rochester, where she studied Music Therapy, Psychology, and Jazz Studies.

    While at Nazareth, she received the 2015 Music Therapy Award as well as the Raymond Shiner Jazz Award. She completed her internship in Rochester, NY at Mary Cariola Children’s Center, where she worked with students ages 3-21 with Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as multiple to complex disabilities. Additionally, she has experience working with individuals diagnosed with aphasia, dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, post-stroke symptoms, and TBI/AnBI, as well as various diagnoses within the mental health field.

    Known around Buffalo, NY for her caring spirit and soulful voice, Sara Rogers performs with multiple groups, including GirlCrush, 18 Wheels and a Crowbar, and the Buffalo Jazz Composer's Workshop. She currently provides music therapy and music instruction with a variety of organizations throughout Western New York, including the Community Music School of Buffalo, Liberty POST, Buffalo Niagara Music Therapy Services, and her own private studio.

    She is also a faculty member at Villa Maria College, where she created the curricula for and teach Psychology of Music, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Performance Psychology.

  • Glenn Colton has performed over 4,000 high energy concerts for kids where he draws upon a variety of styles including folk, rock, bluegrass, disco, blues and country to create music that kids, parents and teachers can enjoy together.

    He believes in the power of healthy choices, and invites his young audiences to open their ears and their hearts to his engaging musical messages. His shows celebrate self-reliance, respect, responsibility, honesty, friendship, and other character building traits that will help to make kids' lives the wonderful journey it was meant to be.

    Glenn gained much of his performing experience in the 1980's working as a solo singer/guitarist in the resorts of eastern Long Island. During the summer months of 1984 - 1988, he performed seven nights a week. After moving to Buffalo, NY, the years of 1994-2001 were a time of growth and learning for Glenn as he created and marketed his live shows to elementary schools. In 1999, Glenn’s reputation earned him a sponsorship arrangement with Elixir Guitar Strings.

    In 2009 Glenn was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. He has released 7 full length recordings of original material, 2 children’s books and a Live Greatest Hits DVD. His music can be streamed and downloaded from iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

    Currently Glenn is the music teacher at Immaculate Conception School in East Aurora, NY. He is a Music Minister at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Hamburg, NY, leading song at 4:30 PM Mass each Saturday. He also teaches remote guitar and ukulele lessons and continues to perform concerts for children throughout the Western New York region.
